Synopsis
The winner of the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival’s Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature, Asghar Farhadi's About Elly is a tense ensemble drama that unmasks male-female relationships in middle class Iran. Sepideh (Golshifteh Farahani) plans a weekend getaway to the Caspian Sea with some friends, and invites her son's kindergarten teacher, Elly (Taraneh Alidoosti), to finally introduce her to the newly single Ahmad (Shahab Hosseini).
However, her well-intentioned game of cupid turns foul when the trip is struck by sudden tragedy and Elly disappears. Fear and guilt riddle the group as they try to find Elly but Sepideh's secret soon triggers a web of lies where saving face becomes more important than revealing the truth.
Farhadi skillfully sculpts a well-acted and powerful drama while maintaining the pace of a suspenseful mystery. A sophisticated and effective work of Iranian Cinema, Farhadi continues to illuminate the complexities and contradictions of Iranian life.

فيلم "بشأن إيلي" للمخرج أصغر فرهدي والفائز بجائزة أفضل فيلم روائي في مهرجان ترايبيكا السينمائي هذه السنة دراما مثيرة للتوتر تكشف النقاب عن العلاقة بين الرجل والمرأة داخل الطبقة العاملة في إيران. ونرى في هذا الفيلم سيبيدي (جولشيفتي فرحاني) تضع الخطط لرحلة مع بعض الأصدقاء إلى البحر الكاسبي لقضاء عطلة نهاية الأسبوع وتقوم بدعوة إيلي (تاراني عليدوستي) - مدرّسة ابنها في الحضانة -لتعريفها أخيرا إلى أحمد (شهاب حسيني) الذي أصبح أعزبا منذ فترة قصيرة. ولكن على الرغم من نواياها الحسنة في الجمع بين شخصين إلا أن الأمور لا تجري حسب مشتهاها عندما تصيب المجموعة كارثة باختفاء إيلي. ويخالج مشاعر الجميع الخوف وعقدة الذنب فيما يحاولون إيجاد إيلي ولكن السرّ الذي تخفيه سيبيدي سرعان ما يولد سلسلة من الأكاذيب عندما يصبح حفظ ماء الوجه أهم من كشف الحقيقة.
يرسم فرهدي بكل إتقان دراما قوية مع محافظته على وتيرة لغز مليء بالإثارة والتشويق. ويواصل المخرج من خلال هذا العمل المنمق والفعال للسينما الإيرانية تسليط الضوء على تعقيدات وتضاربات الحياة الإيرانية.

ولد أصغر فرهدي في أصفهان بإيران سنة 1972 وهو كاتب ومخرج للمسرح والإذاعة الوطنية والتلفزيون والسينما. له في رصيد أفلامه في مجال الإخراج "الرقص في الغبار" – أول فيلم من إخراجه- و"مدينة العام 2004 الجميلة", و"الألعاب النارية يوم الأربعاء". أما في مجال كتابة السيناريوهات, فقد كتب الحوار لفيلم "مرتفعات منخفضة" والسلسلة التلفزيونية "قصة مدينة".
