Synopsis
Set in the immediate aftermath of the London bombings of July 2005, London River tells the inter-connecting stories of two parents of suspected bombing victims. Elisabeth, played by Brenda Blethyn (Secrets And Lies), is initially wary of French African Ousmane (played by Malian actor Sotigui Kouyaté), but they discover a connection between their children that brings them together.
Kouyaté’s quiet dignity in the role of estranged, grieving father won him a Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, while the film itself won Special Mention from Berlin’s Ecumenical Jury.
Veteran French-Algerian director Rachid Bouchareb has already received two Oscar® nominations: for Dust of Life (1995) and for his previous film, Indigènes, or Days of Glory (2006). London River, which steadily, deliberately draws the viewer in, depicts a good old-fashioned culture clash in a fresh and contemporary setting.

Director's Bio
French born Rachid Bouchareb debuted with the 1985 short Bâton Rouge. In 1995, Dust of Life was nominated for the Best Foreign Film Oscar® and Little Senegal was presented in competition at the Berlin Film Festival in 2001. In 2006, Days of Glory received a Collective Prize for Best Actors at the Cannes Film Festival.

تقع أحداث فيلم "نهر لندن" مباشرة بعد تفجيرات لندن في يوليو 2005, ويروي الفيلم قصصا متشابكة لوالدي ضحايا التفجيرات المحتملين. تكون إليزابيث التي تلعب دورها برندا بليثين (أسرار وأكاذيب Secrets And Lies) حذرة من عثمان الفرنسي الأفريقي الأصل (الذي يلعب دوره الممثل المالي سوتيجي كوياتي) ولكنهما يكتشفان علاقة بين أبنائهما توثق علاقتهما ببعضهما. يتميز كوياتي بنبل هادىء في دور الوالد المفجوع المقصي وقد فاز على دوره هذا جائزة الدب الفضي في مهرجان برلين للأفلام في حين حصل الفيلم نفسه على تنويه خاص من لجنة برلين العالمية. وقد سبق للمخرج رشيد بوشارب الفرنسي- الجزائري الفوز بترشيحين للأوسكار تقديرا لفيلمه غبار الحياة Dust of Life (1995) وأيام المجد Indigènes أو Days of Glory (2006). يجذب فيلم "نهر لندن" بروية مقصودة المشاهد إلى أبطاله فيما يرسم صورة تضارب ثقافي قديم الطراز في إطار متجدد ومعاصر. - أماندا بالمير

بدأ رشيد بوشارب الفرنسي المولد بفيلم "العصا الحمراء" القصير سنة 1985. وفي العام 1996, تم ترشيح "غبار الحياة" لأوسكار أفضل فيلم أجنبي, وشارك فيلم "السينغال الصغير" في مسابقة مهرجان برلين للأفلام سنة 2001. وفي العام 2006, حقق "أيام المجد" جائزة جماعية لأفضل ممثلين في مهرجان كان السينمائي.
