Synopsis
R.J. Cutler's behind the scenes look at the making of high fashion magazine Vogue's September issue is a tour de force of filmmaking dexterity and vision from within one of the world's most fascinating institutions.
Cutler's portrait of iconic editor Anna Wintour in The September Issue is multifaceted and a witness to the simultaneous creation of a myth and its unvarnished realities.
Cutler, who is a Peabody and Emmy Award winning filmmaker (he has only been nominated for the Oscar but this film might change that), displays both perspective and transparency allowing us to feel our access is pure, even when we know it can't be. He reminds us that a filmmaker's most important skill is not technical, but an exquisitely tuned understanding of relationships and power. This film demonstrates Cutler's skill in spades.

Director's Bio
R.J. Cutler is an award-winning producer and director of non-fiction films and television. Debuting with the Oscar-nominated The War Room, Cutler established himself as keenly skilled at reflecting American politics. Other films illustrating Cutler’s sharp gaze include A Perfect Candidate, American High, and Thin.

يلقي المخرج كاتلير نظرة خلف الكواليس للتعرف على كيفية إعداد مجلة فوج للأزياء الراقية وبالتحديد عدد سبتمبر فأثبت قدرته ومهارته في صناعة الأفلام ورؤيته الثاقبة في نقل وقائع دقيقة من داخل إحدى أكثر المؤسسات المبهرة في العالم. ويرسم المخرج صورة متعددة الجوانب للمحررة المعروفة أنا وينتور ودورها في عدد سبتمبر بحيث يكون الفيلم شاهدا على ولادة اسطورة وواقعها بدون أي تنمق.
ويعرض كاتلير المخرج الحائز على جائزة بيبادي وإيمي (وقد تم ترشيحه لجائزة أوسكار© فقط ولكن هذا الفيلم قد يغير هذا الواقع) الفكرة والشفافية التي تسمح لنا بالتأكد من صفاء عالمنا حتى إن كنا نعلم بخلاف ذلك. ويذكرنا هذا الفيلم بأن المهارة التقنية ليست أهم مقوّمات المخرج بل هو الإدراك المتسق للعلاقات والقوة. هذا الفيلم يثبت بدون شك مهارة كاتلير.
