Synopsis
Indigenous Australian filmmaker Warwick Thornton delivers an impressive debut feature with a story drawn from his own experiences of growing up in the isolated outback aboriginal community of Alice Springs. His unconventional love story follows two aboriginal teenagers, petrol-sniffing Samson (Rowan McNamara) and Delilah (Marissa Gibson).
Stuck in a remote and routine existence where nothing changes, the two lovers venture to the big city only to find that life on the other side is no sweeter. The two central actors give painfully realistic performances and were discovered when Thornton auditioned local schools in central Australia.
The film won overwhelming community approval when it premiered in Alice Springs before taking this year's coveted 'Camera D’or' award at The Cannes International Film Festival. After a number of successful short films, he’s gone on to become one of Australia’s top cinematographers — and it certainly shines here.

Director's Bio
Australian-born Warwick Thornton is a writer and director who was awarded the Emerging Filmmaker Award at the Melbourne International Film Festival for his short film Nana. Samson and Delilah marks Thornton’s debut as a feature-length director.

يقدم المخرج الأسترالي وورويك ثورنتون في أول فيلم طويل له قصة مقتبسة من تجاربه الخاصة المستمدة من ترعرعره في مجتمع السكان الأصليين المعزولين في منطقة أليس سبرينج. ويروي قصة حب غير تقليدية بين مراهقين من السكان الأصليين شمشون (روان ماكنامارا) الذي يتعاطى المخدرات ودليلة (ماريسا جيبسون). ويقوم العاشقان بالهرب من حياتهما البعيدة والروتينية المملة إلى المدينة الكبيرة لكي يكتشفا في نهاية المطاف بأن الحياة على الجانب الآخر ليست أكثر حلاوة. ويقدم البطلان الأساسيان أداء واقعيا إلى حد كبير علما بأن المخرج اكتشف موهبتهما في أثناء قيامه بتجارب أداء في المدارس المحلية في وسط أستراليا.
