Doha Tribeca Film Festival would like to congratulate our very own Scandar Copti and his co-director Yaron Shani for their nomination for 'Ajami' in the Oscar's "Best Foreign Language Film" category.
The film, which portrays the interwoven stories of people living in the tough neighborhood of Ajami in the city of Jaffa, has drawn critical acclaim in recent months, which has ultimately landed Copti and Shani with an Academy Award nomination.
In Doha, Scandar is best known for working as DTFF's Community Outreach and Film Programmer, and for sharing his experiences with dozens of young aspiring filmmakers in Qatar.
While this is the third year in a row that Israel receives an Oscar nomination in the Best Foreign Film category, it has never taken home the Oscar.
